The O'Day 40 is a very popular 40' cruising boat, designed by the renowned Philippe Briand at Raymond Hunt (C.R. Hunt & Assoc.) with 180 hull fabricated by Bangor Punta Corp until 1989. This particular example was the last to be built, completed in 1990, and thus incorporating all of the upgrades and improvements that were adopted all along the life of the production run.
"HaulODay" is a well equipped vessel that has suited her current owners desire for a spacious, easy to sail coastal cruiser. Her use has been drama-free. Her large cockpit is ideal for hosting several couples for an evening of chardonnay and brie, or enjoying a BBQ on the gas grille up on deck.
And while owners and brokers often refer to a boat's performance as a key feature, seldom do they back that statement up with facts. Know that an O'Day 40 of this vintage has virtually the same handicap as the much newer and more expensive Catalina 400 and the Beneteau 405 (within PHRF).
